    An AmeriCorps member is an individual who is serving in an approved national service position and is eligible to receive an educational award from the National Service Trust. AmeriCorps Members serve a minimum of 900 hours per service term. Members would serve part time or a minimum of 25 hours per week from August 1, 2017 to July 31, 2018.  The goal of the CSBD AmeriCorps Inspire Program is to increase financial education, and to raise awareness of community and education partnerships.  


    Members of the CSBD AmeriCorps Inspire Program provide job readiness, financial education, employability skills training and provide resource navigation support in each of our centers.  AmeriCorps members are assigned throughout Broward County to work collaboratively with several community agencies to strengthen community ties. 

Each CSBD AmeriCorps Inspire Program Member will be assigned to a specific service site based on his/her interest and in accordance with his/her skills and/or experience. Below are the specific areas of assignments for the 2017-2018 service year.


Title: First Impressions Team (FIT) Member           Available Slots: 13

Location: CareerSource Broward Centers

CareerSource Broward North Center – 2 Available Slots

CareerSource Broward Central Center – 7 Available Slots

CareerSource Broward South Center – 4 Available Slots


Assignment Description: 

  • Verify if customer has had an Initial Assessment in EFM (102) within the past 90 days. 
  • Assist customers with completing a full EFM registration.
  • Assist customers with the creation of a resume.
  • Route customers who have completed their resume and EFM registration to the Placement department.
  • Follow-up with email and telephone messages Provide resume critique.


Title: CSBD Internship Portal Coaches            Available Slots:  2

Location: CareerSource Broward Central Center 

Assignment Description: 

  • Members will assist in the development of the Youth Internship Portal, which matches youth to hiring employers.
  • Members will conduct calls to employers to discuss new or potential employment or internship opportunities.
  • Members will register these opportunities in the portal system so that they may be accessed by youth.
  • Members will also make outbound calls to registered youth when opportunities that match their profile or desired internship become available.


Title: Inspire Leads              Available Slots:  6

Location:  TBA,  Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304  & 33315

Assignment Description: 

  • Members will be assigned to assist disadvantaged youth or young adults. This program is a result of a recent partnership which has enabled them to become one of our youth providers under the WIOA grant.
  • Members will facilitate Employability and Financial Literacy workshops for disadvantaged youth and administer pre- and post-tests.
  • Members will help coordinate leadership development opportunities for WIOA youth participants including community service and peer centered activities, encouraging responsibility and other positive social and civic behaviors and other non-duplicative activities needed in our programs.
  • Members will develop and coordinate career exploration activities or events.
  • Members will remain engaged with the organization to develop youth centered projects during holiday breaks or summer months (e.g., beautification of the agency, cleanup of a park, help a garden grow, foodbank, day of caring, etc.).



Title: Inspire Facilitators and Trainers                    Available Slots:  9  

Location:  Various Locations throughout Broward County 


Assignment Description:

  • Members will deliver workshops, as assigned in the CareerSource Broward Centers as well as several locations in Broward County including but not limited to local libraries.
  • Members will provide guidance and direction for the targeted population participating in each workshop.  Facilitate services to meet the customers’ needs, alleviate barriers and the development of the customer’s potential.
  • Members will facilitate Employability and Financial Literacy workshops for disadvantaged youth and administer pre- and post-tests.
  • Members will provide additional resources such as the CareerSource Broward Hot Jobs List , Workshop Calendars and upcoming job fairs.
  • Members will provide patrons with assistance to register and use Employ Florida for Job Seeking purposes.
  • Members will also provide training to peer AmeriCorps Members who may also need to provide workshops or information to disadvantaged individuals at their site.
  • The member must be a United States citizen, a national or legal permanent resident and at least 17 years of age.
  • The member must be a high school graduate who has received his/her diploma or G.E.D.
  • The member must receive a favorable background, to include a FDLE / FBI check based on fingerprinting.
  • Must be available to complete mandatory 40 hour training from August 2, 2017 – August 9, 2017  
  • CSBD AmeriCorps is a drug free workplace.  Members are subject to random drug testing.
