Résumé Workshop

Need to polish that résumé? Learn from the pros how to create and target a winning résumé to land your next interview. In this workshop, you will learn different résumé styles as well as the importance of using keywords in your résumé and what hiring managers respond to most. Topics include:

Broward Online Job Board              

Learn how to get the most out of the Employ Florida Marketplace (EFM), including background information, obtaining job skills and automated resume building. At the end of this workshop you will have a complete registration in EFM and know how to properly search and apply for job openings. The workshop will also cover Internet job searching, as the internet provides job seekers with a valuable resource and a path to the Hidden Job Market. Please bring a draft résumé, along with your EFM username and password.

Basic PC Skills Workshop       

Now is the time to learn how to use a computer. Get hands-on training on using a mouse and keyboard while learning common computer functions. Topics to include:

Social Networking Workshop      

Have you discovered the hidden job market? This workshop will teach you the tools and tips you need to succeed in a digital job market. Money Management Workshop

eSkill Assessment Workshop

The eSkill assessment is a versatile web-based tool that tests for a wide range of skills and knowledge. The application offers customizable online tests to help candidates validate their industry-specific knowledge, and aid employers in identifying qualified candidates. If you’re seeking employment, don’t just tell employers how much you know, show them! Complete a proctored eSkill assessment workshop today, and get a PROFICIENCY LETTER that proves you have what it takes to get the job done.

However, in order for customers to participate in the eSkill Assessment workshop, they must first meet with a Success Coach or member of the Placement Team to obtain a unique eSkill assessment code. Each assessment has a distinct code that is assigned to the customer, and is only available from a Success Coach or member of the Placement Team. Please visit your local CareerSource Broward career center to obtain your unique eSkill assessment code before you register for this workshop. If you attend the workshop without first obtaining an assessment code, you may not be able to complete the assessment workshop. Assessment codes may be obtained on the same day as assessment workshops, but please allow extra time prior to scheduling your assessment. Please note, eSkill Assessments are provided on a FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVED basis.

TORQ Workshop

TORQ (Transferable Occupation Relationship Quotient) is a simple-to-use online tool that links occupations based on the abilities, skills and knowledge required by workers in a vast number of occupations. The TORQ program assesses your skills and "crosswalks" them with other occupations that require similar skill sets. The program then performs an analysis that shows you how close the skills matches are and recommends additional training options to help close any knowledge or skills gaps.

Career Pathways                                

This fast-paced workshop covers the important job search functions that matter most in today's job market. Participants will learn the essentials and listen to CareerSource Broward expert job coaches provide tips and share inspirational stories. If you have been unemployed for over three months, we recommend you take this workshop.

Professional Placement Network (PPN)

Are you a professional looking for a new position? The Professional Placement Network (PPN) workshop is all about helping you become employed in your next right job. We'll teach you the things you must do, things you must say, things you must prepare and finally the things you must be to become successful in your job search. Topics include:   

DAY ONE (Motivation and Support)
        Defining your career goals
        Taking personal inventories
        Developing your plan of action
        Job search tips, things you must know and do
        Creating your personal infomercial   

DAY TWO (Motivation and Support)
        Job search methods that work - marketing/cover letter samples
        Networking strategies: the power of relationship building
        Informational interviewing   

DAY THREE (Motivation and Support)
        Writing tips for a winning, keyword, value-based resume
        Effective interviewing strategies
        Negotiating for the job at the best price

If you are a professional with a four-year degree or a minimum of five years of managerial experience and/or a salary of $47,000 per year or more, the Professional Placement Network (PPN) Workshop will help you learn the step-by-step process of getting a job.
