Priority of Service
Eligible veterans and spouses receive Priority of Service across all programs available in the career centers. Priority of Service is the right of an eligible “Covered Person” to receive priority over an eligible non-covered person for the receipt of employment, training and placement services, notwithstanding other provisions of the law.
Covered persons take precedence over non-covered persons in obtaining services and shall receive access to services and resources earlier in time than a non-covered person. If services or resources are limited, the covered person receives access instead of, or before the non-covered person.
Please refer to our PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY & DEFINITIONS page for additional information regarding covered person status.
Job Development Services
CSBD placement staff work to develop exciting job opportunities for Broward County veterans. CSBD also has relationships with federal contractors and other top employers committed to hiring veterans and visit them on a regular basis to keep the jobs coming in.
Veteran Intensive Placement (VIP) Program
Eligible veterans and spouses with Significant Barriers to Employment (SBEs) may receive one-on-one intensive employment services from CSBD staff. But don’t let the name fool you, having a service-connected disability is not the only way to qualify for this great program.
Under the VIP program, CSBD staff utilize in-depth assessment tools and individual employment plans, to provide one-on-one career coaching for covered persons with SBE(s). CSBD staff are specially trained to help clear employment barriers and promote “job readiness.”
Please refer to our PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY page for additional information regarding eligibility to receive services from a veteran representative.
